Metal Fabrication Capabilities
Prescott Metal is a precision sheet metal and tubular frame fabricator that has been in business for more than 100 years. Located in Southern Maine, the company originally started as a blacksmith shop, supporting the needs of the local textile mills. Over the years, Prescott has invested in state of the art equipment, which allowed the company to become a precision fabrication shop providing sheet metal services. Many of the employees have in excess of 20 years worth of experience, which allows experience and innovative thinking to help our customers reduce the costs of their deburring, painting, laser, cutting, and welding projects.
Our programming department is capable of programming customer parts within .005”. Our staff of Programmers/Engineers has over 60 years experience in the field of metal fabrications and over 30 years of combined experience programming parts for our customers’ needs. We currently use MetaCam to program our laser and punch. With our vast knowledge of sheet metal layout we can be very instrumental in helping to bring new products and ideas to life.
Engineering Metal Fabrication
What makes our engineers successful is having more than 60 years experience in the sheet metal world. We currently use Solid Works for sheet metal and frame layout, as well as BobCad-Cam which is used to program our CNC Machining Centers. We have both 2D and 3D capabilities and our team is primarily responsible for developing fabrication drawings for the shop floor, from a customer concept.

Sheet Metal Punching
Prescott Metal has an Amada EM 3612, 33 ton, 58 tool Station with Self-Loading and Unloading. With the use of this, we are able to punch louvers, lances and other shapes that can’t be laser cut.
Prescott Metal is well known for the quality of our Stainless Steel fabrication finishing. If your stainless needs are a #8 mirror finish, #4 polished finish or just a welded and sanded finish, our staff can give you exactly what you need. All parts are hand welded and finished to the specifications you desire. If a painted finish is what you need, Prescott Metal does powder coating in-house, and can paint items to your specifications. Prescott Metal can also arrange any of your plating requirements.
Prescott Metal has an AMADA LC 2515 C1 Fiber Laser/Punch Combo with a 44- station tool holder and a 3kW laser. Multiple-shelf towers hold a variety of sheet stock to allow running of multiple jobs increasing productivity.
Prescott Metal has seven Amada press brakes, ranging from 4’ to 10’, with the expertise to form complex parts to tight tolerances.
Metal Laser Cutting
Prescott Metal has a 4,000 watt Mazak Mark II Laser, with a 60” x 120” bed. We can laser cut steel plates up to .75” thick, Stainless Steel and Aluminum up to .375” thick.
While we don’t consider Prescott Metal to be a machine shop, we do have a variety of CNC controlled milling machines. Our CNC machines are used primarily as a support function to our fabrications which helps us control lead times and quality to our customers by keeping this process in-house. We have two CNC Bed Mills, with 30” x 60” travel, as well as several CNC Knee Mills to help us achieve our machining requirements.
Deburring is completed either as a hand operation, or on our 36” wet belt Timesaver.
Prescott Metal has updated equipment for Mig, Tig, Spotwelding and Stud Welding. Our fabricators must pass a Prescott Metal internal welding test, and a handful of our employees hold certifications to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes, and Aerospace as well. We weld aluminum, mild steel and stainless steel fabrications.
